Hi all,

I found that after I converted the piping to underground piping, part of the pipe desity became zero. When I put the pipe density back, I got high stresses at the sustained case.

Can anybody tell me why underground pipe desity should be zero?

Thanks a lot!

You want the density set to zero. Think about the model, it is continuously supported along the pipe length - therefore there will be no weight stress. The only way to accomplish this in a "discretized model" is to set the densities to zero.

Thanks Richard.

With CAESAR II 2011 version, not all the underground pipe densities are set to zero. Should I set them all to zero?

They should all be zero. Can you send me the "unburied model", so we can check this out here?

I converted the piping to underground piping again. This time all the densities are zero. I don't know what happened, but it is working now.
