hi there,

Im user of CII 5.1.
We have 2 licences and work in Server.

In case we open simultaneously the same File in 2 differenent PCs connected to server, this File is getting seriously damaged and it cannot be used anymore.

Please explain the reasons of this problem.
Can be avoided changing the CII settings ?

thank for ur answer in advance.

There are 2 options:
- working in different directories
or
- setting the userID on each machine in the CAESAR II settings.

Hi corne, thx for ur reply.

Please clarify how the userID can be modified on each machine.
Notice that we use multi-licence in usb flash memory stick which can be applied to only one PC (master user) connected to server (secondary users)

thx again

CAESAR II files are just that "files". This is not a database where multiple changes can be made by mulitple people on the same file.

Only one person should work on any given model at a time!

To address the "communication" files used by the software, you need to setup the "User_ID" value (found on the "Miscellaneous" tab of the Configuration Module). Once the "User_ID" is set, each user will have his own set of communication files - even when working in a shared network directory. (You still can't have muliple people working on the same job file though.)

Oops, my bad. It's indeed not possible to work in the same file. I was just talking about working in the same directory on different files. Sorry.

Actually its there now. You can put a "password" on the input file (from within the Piping Preprocessor). You need to password to make future "saves" to the file - effectively making things read-only.

The problem with this is that everyone forgets the password ...

I think that there is something you can do. When you open a CAESAR II file, it will be splitted in the classic way (_a, _j, _p ....) files. So if you do not see the CAESAR II file but the _a file, mean somebody else work in it.

So do not open _a files, only CAESAR II files.
