Hi

I have to calculate an 16'' flare that is maintained with 3 wire cables at 120° each one so I used CAESARII to modelise it but for the cables I modelised it by an expansion joint with cables stiffness characteristics and I got a reasonable solution
I m just asking if someone can help me to get a better model for this cables and if it's true to use a spring restraint with cables stiffnesses and which model is better or if there is another idea to represent the cables in CAESAR II

I don't believe you can model cable behavior with a "beam element". CAESAR II is the wrong tool for this problem.

Thank you Mr Richard.

I'm thinking to not introduce the cables but I will put Spring restraint (on the 3 direction X,Y,Z WITH CABLE STIFFNESS) then I will check the restraint on this node to get the force on the cable.
what do you think?

The spring will always have a stiffness, which is different from a cable if the cable goes slack.

I wouldn't do this.

yes you're right.
I think it's better to calculate the force in cables then introducing them as input in their respective nodes.
