I am trying to model a pump action upon a pipeline system, however I have problem for the modeler a support close the pump.

What kind of support is? what is the function of this support?

support were modeled as anchor in caesar II, is it ok? what is the correct?

It is an adjustable support as the other two that have bolts but is not clear if it is full anchor or sliding. If it was modeled as anchor mean that it follow a quite spread idea that an anchor near the nozzle will be beneficial for the pump (which is a wrong idea). My oppinion is that all supports so close to the nozzles (anchors or not) are detrimental to the nozzles.

If I am model the support like anchor close the nozzle, are generated high stresses by temperature in the pump nozzle, due to the double anchor.

I don’t know if the support is a really anchor, by his structural characteristic, that is real? Probably no, by the flexibility of the support, reason why attempt to model the structure of the support in CAESAR II, but one of the problems it is to model the stud bolts.

Attach a picture of the model in the Caesar II of the pipe, supports and the beams.

By the way, the pumps is located in a marine platform

If it is not flexible, you have double anchor with big loads (mainly axial).
If it is flexible enough to not generate large loads, it is useless.

I think that there are other topics that cover also this subject.

Removing that support will be better than it is now.

dear kristian,
it is an adjustable rest(+y) support. don't confuse your self too much.
this type of support is very useful during erection in site. it will give adjustments while align the pump nozzle and suction pipeline.
don't consider this support as a anchor your pump system stresses never pass and your pump nozzle never qualify.

Is possible to model support this way: Y ( +Y and –Y) maybe its more correct than +Y. this way consider the axial stiffness and disregarding flexibility stiffness of the support

What are you thinking about?

You should modelling it as Trunnion with Y Restraint, if it is sliding and most likely it is sliding, then add the friction coefficient.

Normally it should be a +Y, but as I said, what if they actually added some weld? smile
