Dear All,
I have faced with an unusual problem in HP Steam line stress analysis. Please refer to attached sketch that shows there are two 12” steam lines that will be connected to together with new size 16”. The weight of valve “A” is 3.6 ton and valve “B” is 3.5 ton.
Because of the high deflection in this line (about 40 mm) I have to use spring hangers before, between and after these valves.
But when I did stress analysis the hot loads of hangers are as follow :
Spring Hangers 10/30 : App. 500 kg
Spring Hangers 20/40 : App. 7.5 ton
Spring Hanger 50: App. 6 ton.
That means the hangers 10/30 have a little effects on carrying the weights and also I like to have a simple spring hangers in nodes 20/40, actually I want to distribute the loads between spring hangers before and after valves.
So I entered the value 4500 kg in CAESAR II hanger input data (Operating load blank space) and when I did analysis the loads distributed properly between hangers 10/20/30 and 40.
My questions are:
1- Can I perform this way?
2- With respect to 7.5 ton actual load in nodes 30/40, will these hangers be failed?
I look forward to hear from you.

Regards,
Mehdi
