Hello to all.

many times we have lift of on supports. normally we do not need that.

My question is. what if i want lift of. I do not need to many supports because effect of friction but during maintenance i want to avoid using temporary supports.

How to define vertical restraint with gap between pipe and support.

I understand that the support is necessary for the sustain load case. If not try the analysis without vertical support. If you need that support for sustain load case, you need it after the lift off as well. So I would suggest to use a spring hanger instead. This solves the friction problems as well.

There are many threads on the support lift off on the forum you visit them if necessary.
