Hi,

Could someone please advice if the term "Pressure" referred in Expansion Joint Modeler is measured in PSI and if it is referring to the pressure rating for expansion joint (refer to attached image).

Thanks and regards,

Steve

Steve,

When do you have doubts, questions, remember that pressing F1 will bring you the help menu. In this case:

Pressure Rating
The pressure rating should be equal to, or larger than the design pressure of the system. Note, however, that in many instances larger pressures can be tolerated than the rated pressure shown, in fact in many small diameter expansion joints the same bellows is used in 50, 150, and 300 psi-rated joints. The CAESAR II modeler contains the true minimum pressure limits for all of the bellows in the database, and checks the maximum pressure in the line (as entered by the user) against the allowed pressure (which as stated, is often greater than the rated pressure). This particular feature allows the user to select a smaller joint with more flexibility for certain applications.

This pressure is used to select the length and stiffness values for the joint to be modelled. As you might imagine, higher pressure classes will be thicker and therefor stiffer.
This rating is not used in evaluating the proper use of the selected joint.
