Hi everyone.

We (engineering company) are facing some problems with users that are holding network licenses on their machines without really needing it at the moment. Only to have it when necessary. Is there a way to monitor these user's activity remotely?

Does anyone have already figured out how to take back network licences from a user that has not performed any command during a certain amount of time?

Regards,
Diego Balbi.

The fastest way to get all the licenses back in the "pool" is to Stop, then ReStart the License Manager on the Server. This does throw everyone off, but all the licenses are then available.

As to monitoring license usage, if you're running Version 5.20 you can bring up "Admin Control Center" to see which workstations have licenses. You can bring up the ACC by typing "http://localhost:1947" in the address bar of Internet Explorer. Then click on "HASP keys" on the left, then on the specific key in question. (You may have to do this on the server if workstations haven't been given permission to access the ACC.)

If you're running something earlier than 5.20, you'll have to use the MONITOR utility. You can find this below CAESAR II in \assidrv\monitor.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry for not being so fast on my next questioning.

I see your point, but on this particular case I cannot restart the license manager and get all the licenses back. It must be targeted to a certain machine that is presenting none activity by the user. Is it possible to bring back one specific license to the pool?

Diego Balbi

Not at this time. The HASP License Manager doesn't permit this.
