In FRP pipe line flexibility analysis I got a problem to determinate the reaction on the supports, in first case I calculate it without adding the friction factor ‘Mu’ on supports and the results were acceptable but when I put (Mu=0.3 on my case) in all supports I can’t get any results the calculation don’t converge.
Can someone tell why please!!!

the convergence error comes because of the following reasons:
A)If for "+y "the pipe is lifting at the support because near by support is not placed at nul point please change the locatiion of nearby supports.Or put "Y" restraint.
b)A nearby axial stop may be the problem.
C)see the not sliding positions of the nodes.
d)if in "Lateral directiions "system has guides or cross guides with gaps which are not touching hence no need of friction.

Or reduce the friction stiffness in Configuration file.

You can [Search] on both "friction" and "convergence" and find a number of really informative posts on these subjects. This one in particular should be enlightening.
