do anybody have an idea about How the leg length can be calculated???

i have FLUOR manual in that they have calculated leg length, however i didn't get that.

e.g. Pipes connected between two anchor. 6" SCH 40 @ 300 degree F N material is CS. having horizontal length 25'(guide)+ 25'+20' and vertical length = 20'
Vertical Expansion is =20 * 0.0182 = 0.364"


hence Calculated leg Length is (L) =20+25+5= 50'
and Thermal Force(T.F.) = Less than 200#

Now how that L and T.F has been calculated ????
