Hi!

Now I'm trying to edit support symbols of Isometric DWG extracted by C-II Isogen(C-II ver5.20).

And I'd like to know how new symbols(symbols.asc/symbols.BIN) edited by "Symbols Editor" can be assigned to Isogen.

Please give me advice.

Thanks.

Hi,

Which program do you use to edit support symbols?

I used "Symbols.exe" on C-II ver5.20.0.

path:Program Files\3rdParty\Alias\Iso Utils\Symbols.exe

I am looking for the same as phalisia. Using I-Configure and C2Isogen, I have not been able to find out where you point Isogen to the custom symbols made in Symbols.exe (Iso Utils-folder).

In I-Configure, go to Style\Supplementary\DataFiles\ISOGENFiles(1), select ASCII-SYMBOLS as the FileType, and specify the path.

I have not got this thing to work yet, but have found the place to specify the path (thanks Shawn!). I am still a bit puzzled about how these custom symbols are used by C2Isogen. Where do you specify what symbols to use, e.g. if you create an alternative guide support with a new SKEY?

I made a new skid support (old SKEY=SKID, new SKEY=SKOD) with Symbols.exe. See ASCII-file below:

501 SKOD SKID 55 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
502 1 0 500 1 0 500 2 750 750 1 0 500 0
502 2 750 250 1 0 500 2 750 700 1 0 500 0
502 2 750 650 1 0 500 2 750 600 1 0 500 0
502 2 750 550 1 0 500 2 750 500 1 0 500 0
502 2 750 450 1 0 500 2 750 400 1 0 500 0
502 2 750 350 1 0 500 2 750 300 1 750 750 0
502 2 750 250 1 750 500 2 2000 500 1 2500 500 0

This doesnt work, and C2Isogen crash. I am not sure how to make this work. Anybody who has made custom symbols with Symbols.exe (v.1.2.5) and used them in conjunction with I-Configure & C2Isogen succesfully? Any tips appreciated.

Regards,

I think you need to edit the pcf file which is generated by CAESAR II, change the SKEY to the new one you just created. You can find the "Edit pcf file" button in C2isogen, click that one, then you can edit it in Notepad. Once you save it, you need to select the existing style as you defined in I-Configure.

When I open the PCF-file, its totally empty smirk But the isos are generated without serious errors and looks ok (but not with my customized symbol though). Only errors are:

(35:1015) WARNING - INVALID ITEM/DESCRIPTION POINTER 0
(35:1045) ERROR - USER TEXT POSITIONED OUTSIDE DRAWING FOR RECORD ID. -610 - TEXT OUTPUT AT DRAWING ORIGIN

What do these errors refer to, by the way?

But the main thing; what about the empty PCF-file? smile

I have not seen this error message before. But the pcf file should be there in the same directory where CAESAR II file resides. You can send me CAESAR II file, I can test it here in my office.

hey everyone,
i have lot of problems with i-configure to customize my isometrics according to company template.
first problem: error while opening I-configure:error in I-configure form Load ( version of sysconfig doesn't match project manager ) so i tried to resolve it by going through sysconfig and edit version to 2.9 but it still doesn't work.

Second problem : if i want just to generate my isometric by isogen without going to customize ..i always have wrong symbols of restraint specially guide and axial stop and that's put people in confusion while reading calculation note ..anyway i tried to edit symbols in symbols editor but its doenst work too ( i have error run time...) and they ask to drawn ..i want just to classify the old library by what i really need .....why its so complicated .....
thank you to resolve these items shown above .
thank you alot

Hi Insanitis:

Please file technical support requests at the SmartSupport portal(https://smartsupport.intergraph.com/). For contact information on Intergraph representatives or dealers local to your area, please refer to http://www.coade.com/Support/Dealers.shtml.

Custom Symbol Libraries are referenced in the Isometric Style configurations. The way to do this depends on the program used to create/manage your Isometric Styles. e.g. If you were using ProjectManager, then the reference to the custom Symbols (ASC) file would be made under Drawing Control > User Defined Symbols. If you were using I-Configure, then the reference to the custom Symbols file would be made under Supplementary > DataFiles where you would add a new row to the table and set its FileType to "ASCII-SYMBOLS".

Help documentation is available for both programs.

To create the Custom Symbol library, you would use the SymbolEditor (Symbols.exe) available in the 3rdParty\Alias\Iso Utils\ folder of your CAESAR II installation folder. Symbol Editor user documentation provides further details on how to create the custom symbol libraries and export to ASC format.

For further support, please issue a technical support Service Request at SmartSupport or through local support references (Dealers.shtml).
