Hello,

Whether we should consider the piping loads as loads/moments on the vessel and consider their effect in seismic/wind analysis ( by selecting the option- compute the stresses due to applied loads in the attached file) or whether we should never consider these loads in wind/seismic calculation as the stresses induced due to piping loads are secondary stresses which are self limiting.

Please guide.

Regards,
Bipin

Hello Bipin

I have answered your question in an email. This is what I stated:

Hi Bipin

You can certainly add the loads as global loads to the vessel representing the loads on the nozzles carried through to the vessel, but this is not normally done. The loads from the nozzles are usually very small compared to the wind and seismic loads.
