For some cases PV Elite is calculating the reinfocement of Nozzle, both, 90 degrees to the Longitudinal axis as well as in plane parallel to the vessel axis.

Can any one tell me when PV Elite calculates forboth the cases.

Dear Friend,

Your nozzle must be offset (tangential) nozzle. For that kind of nozzles you need to check reinforcement in 2 directions as opening in vessel will not be circular.

in both case the vessel cutting will be the ciruclar (if nozzle neck is round circle). but yes, vessel cutting profile wil be different and not circular in both cases.
its my understanding.

My nozzle is not offset one but still PV Elite is calculating in both the directions.

Is it linked to longitudinal stress and hoop stress of the vessel????

If due to external loads the longitudinal stress is more than hoop stress, then is there any need of checking in both the directions?????
