While analysing saddle supports in PVElite, result includes calculation for operating and test condition.

Here for test condition PVElite is not considering allowable stress as 0.9*yield.

The 90% of Yield only appies to the main components when considering the hydrotest case. We do not apply the 90% yield in the case of the stresses induced in the shell for the hydrotest case when performing the saddle analysis.

Why we can’t go upto 90% yield stresses for the shell while doing hydrotesting?

As for the hydrotest pressure we are comparing the actual stresses with 90% yield stresses, in the same way for the load because of test fluid & dead weight of vessel why we can’t compare the generated stresses with the 90% yield stresses which is again a temporary load?
