Recently I recieve a detail of work for a bid; but I can not understand this:

STRESS ANALYSIS FOR GRADE “SC”
STRESS ANALYSIS FOR GRADE “C”
STRESS ANALYSIS GRADE “M”
STRESS ANALYSIS GRADE “I”

Somebody here knows about that? and what include this kind of Stress Analysis?

Regards,

Luis F. Cadena

I think that is a question to submit to the author.

Without any context given, my first guess is that the author is prioritizing lines for analysis either in terms of preferred order of completion or by extent of analysis required.

Good luck. -- SP

It may refer to the criticality of line to determine the level of stress analysis to be undertaken.

My guess, SC is the term of "Super Critical", C is "Critical", M is "Moderate". For I, I haven't idea about that.

For SC and C, the system analyzed by computer program e.g. CAESAR II and FEA may also be required.

For M,formal analysis will in general done by computer program. However, it may also be done by approximated hand calculation.

Also for “SC” maybe it is required to send calculation report for approval besides that comprehensive calculation( computer analysis) is required too.
Also for “C” maybe it is required to send calculation report for information besides that comprehensive calculation (computer analysis) is required too.
My recommendation is check the "technical contract with vendor" or "pipe stress specification of project" for exact information.

I would hazard a guess:

'SC' = severe cyclic (B31.3)
'M' = Category M (B31.3)
'C' = ??? ... ??? 'cyclic' ???
'I' = ??????

You should check with the Tender/Spec author.
