Dears;

Is there any experienced member, in this forum, whith surface pipeline modeling using Caesar II?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

The friction reaction of a pipeline such as this is complex and differs axially and transverse. If it's only a short pipeline you could consider using short spans and lots of supports, but this would be an approximation.

You are really using the wrong software, unless you can somehow fiddle the Caesar buried pipe modeller to work for you. I would not even try this.

Good forum, boss. The best of.
Your problem would be the tool rather than the forum.

Probably you are interested how to model friction.
Let's presume you'll succeed this action in a way.

IMO you need keeping in mind that long buried pipelines are long runs well "guided" by soil, so they work "axially" or they will be "axially restrained" on important pipeline parts; as a result the classical pipeline theory is well fitted to this behavior.
On the contrary, having a pipeline just laid on soil, it is likely the pipeline parts (also changing the elevation due to soil) will discover many other ways to accommodate the thermal elongation. So you would consider a model as MoverZ has suggested or/and buckling which is not addressed by Caesar II....

best regards
