I'd like to know your opinion about modeling vertical dummy leg on bend among three ways explained in Caesar II Application Guide:

- Near point method
- On curvature method
- Offset element method

I usually model vertical dummy on curvature method. I do it because during assembly I believe it is impossible dummy leg is perfectly lined up with centerline of vertical pipe (near point method) and then I consider this "ghost" moment in my analysis but taking care if a nozzle pump is particularly near. Only in this case "ghost" moment coul be unreal.

Thanks

Regards

Francesco

The three methods as you have listed vary from:

"easiest to model but less accurate"

to

"most involved to model but most accurate".

For most systems, the "on curvature method" should be sufficient.

Dear Mr. Richard,

sorry if I ask this (maybe a stupid question).

I already read that c2ap.pdf,

i saw: when Near Point Method DY= 8ft 6.000 in

but when On Curvature Method DY= 7ft 7.390 in

where that DY= 7ft 7.390 in came from???

please help...
