You need to know what type of key (ESL) you have. Version 4.40 used parallel port keys: white for local, red for network. Version 5.00 and later use USB keys: green for local, red for network. If you don't know what you have go find out - you can't run without a key.
The installation of the HASP drivers sounds like it worked. Your problem is that the software can't find the ESL. If you really have a network key, there are a few more "configuration" steps that may be necessary for your specific system.
On the DVD, there is a directory named "\SetupESL". This directory contains two "Word Documents". Read these, if you still have problems, send an e-mail to TechSupport@coade.com describing your system details and the error message.
