1/-Could you please tell me the steps
I would like to start from SA 516 gr 70 , make a copy and modify the stresses .

2/-Please tell where and how to check the material ( I mean in which directory of PV elite is it stored ?

thanks

Hi Fathi,

Start by opening the Material Editor dialog box.

Go to Tools -> Edit/Add Materials -> Choose appropriate Material Database (ASME, PD5500 or EN-13445)

The Material Database Editor dialog box will open and you can either start a new material from scratch or select and copy a material on the database.

Note: You can see the Help menu for this dialog box for more extensive instructions. Press Help on the main menu of this dialog box

1. Lets select a material from the database; click on the button Edit a COADE Material on the standard bar.

This will populate the Material Database frame on the bottom right-hand corner.

2. Scroll down or look up the material on the Find bar. Input SA-516 on the find bar and press ; this will look up the materials that have that name. Select SA-516 70 and press the Green Checkmark on the standard bar.

3. Change the material name (less than 16 characters) and any other properties for your new material.

4. Press the Save button on the standard bar to save your changes.

5. Press on the Merge button on the standard bar to merge your new materials into the selected material database.

6. Open the Material Database Box (Go to your Utilities Bar on PV Elite Main screen and select the Material Database button). You will see your new materials at the end of the database.

Your new materials are saved on a file on your system folder called UMat1.bin. You can distribute this file for your other colleagues to have the same new materials. The UMat1.bin file needs to be on the PV Elite System folder.

Luis,

It seems that you left out an important step, you have to go to "Tools/Configuration" and set the database year to "Current" in order to select your new materials.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi L Carter,

Yes you are correct it would help if you are using the current database, which that is by default left as "Current". The instructions were assuming that the user would have the current database. Thank you for the comment.
