Hi,

I am designing a circular tank with cone roof. When i am placing the nozzle on the roof, it is talking the distace from datum point of the tank in the nozzle data base, but i need the nozzle location from cenerline of the tank/cone. Could you please explain how i place and design the nozzle on cone roof with specified distance from tank/cone centerline.

Thank You
Satya

Hi Satya,

It is difficult to understand without a picture. You can specify 2 distances in PV Elite's nozzle dialog,

1. The distance where the nozzle centerline meets the cone surface from the base of the cone (measured along the length)

2. The distance where the nozzle centerline meets the cone surface from the Datum line of the vessel.

If you have any questions please send a sketch.

Hello Satya

Perhaps you are designing a tank with a very shallow cone roof. That does not fall within the scope of a pressure vessel code (eg ASME). That is considered a storage tank. As Mandeep said, you need to send a sketch to him.
