Jacketed piping calculations are modelled in caesar by connecting core and jacketed pipe using common flange as connecting node. It will exert excessive loads on the flanges due to differential displacements b/w core and jacketed portion. How to proceed with this calculation and how to check the loads on the flanges? Is it the stress engineer responsibility to check for the flange load. Does the load exist in reality. Please do advise me about this.

Dear Hari,
Well it is the stress engineer's duty to check the loads on the common flanges, also you will have to check the jacketed piping for buckling loads only then the loads will be termed as safe. For getting the loads on the flanges, apply moving anchors at those locations.Hope this will resolve your problem

After getting the loads on the flanges, How to check the flanges for the axial load due to differential expansion. Do we have to check it with equivalent pressure method as we do for flange leakge or some other method to check for the load is available
