Dear Sir,

We are facing certain Problems with PVelite 2010 version.

would would like to list them below.

1)For some materials like GR5 & GR9 The elastic Modulus reference is not set automatically in material dailog pannel & hence affecting tubesheet calculations adversely.

2)Report generation using MS Word creates a problem. Software is not able to detect Location of MS word on the hard drive. (tried manuaaly setting path for MS Word).

3)WRC 107/297- Effect of local shell thickness provided in nozzle menu is not considered in Local load calculations, Shell thickness is required to be increased from main menu & then re - run the calculations.

4)Material Library- After adding a new material in the library the softwares gets Hanged up & The same material is not included in materiall library list.

5) Nozzle Weight- In previous Version, in nozzle menu there was a butto to re-compute nozzle weight, the same is not provided in 2010, and the software doesnt revise weight of the nozzle aftre revising the parameters therby affecting equipment wieght.

6)Saddle calculations for Hydrotest Condition- It has been obsereved that right from previous version's, software doesnt considers Shell & head stresses 90% of Yield strength for Hydrotest Calculation.

7)MDMT summary- In case of determining Impact testing requirements for Dished end component it has been found that basic MDMT is computetd using minimu thickness of DISHED END, rather it shall be Nominal thickness as per ASME CODE. Hence its needed to be corrected.

8)Opening in Flat Head- Reinforcement requirement for opening in flat head as per UG-39 is not checked

Request to provde resolution for the above points ASAP.

Tahir,

You have a big list, please send these items as you encounter them and do not wait. I will try to answer them

1)For some materials like GR5 & GR9 The elastic Modulus reference is not set

-> We are using ASME material properties based on composition or UNS given in Sec. II Part D. Many of the materials are missing from E (Young's modulus) and alpha (coeff. of thermal exp.) tables. If you find any materials with missing properties, select that material and go to dialog for that material. Then, press the F1 key on E or alpha identifier slot and select the one that is closest to your material.

-> Please let us know as well so we can investigate it and add it to the program.

2)Report generation using MS Word creates a problem.

--> What version of MS Word are you using, I think you need later than Word 2000.

3)WRC 107/297- Effect of local shell thickness provided in nozzle menu is not considered in Local load calculations,....

--> This has been fixed, if you need a hot-fix send us an email at (support -at- coade . com) indicating so. It will be part of the next build update for PV Elite 2010.

4)Material Library- After adding a new material in the library the software gets Hanged up & The same material is not included in material library list.

--> This has also been fixed. Apply the March 2010 build from PV Elite section of our website. But in the mean time just add a dummy material as last material in the user material editor. Do not use this dummy material.

5) Nozzle Weight- In previous Version, in nozzle menu there was a button to re-compute nozzle weight, the same is not provided in 2010, and the software doesn't revise weight of the nozzle after revising the parameters thereby affecting equipment weight.

--> The nozzle weight is automatically computed when the program runs (so check the output report). The button to compute the weight is not needed. If you do not agree with the weight please send us an example.

6)Saddle calculations for Hydrotest Condition-

--> Let me get back to you on this point.

7)MDMT summary- In case of determining Impact testing requirements for Dished end component it has been found that basic MDMT is computed using minimum thickness of DISHED END, rather it shall be Nominal thickness as per ASME CODE. Hence its needed to be corrected.

--> I will check it and get back to you.

8)Opening in Flat Head- Reinforcement requirement for opening in flat head as per UG-39 is not checked

--> Yes it is checked, refer to the Nozzle summary report. You can either specify nozzle or just opening without a nozzle. You should get UG-39 style report.

9)Lug Support Module of PVelite 2010 & Build March 2010 Both, does not takes into account Reinforcement pad parameters while performing WRC 107 Calculations, thereby giving wrong Stresses @ reinforcement pad edge with respect to RF Pad data.

Hi Tahir,

I am answering your 6th and 7th queries,

6)Saddle calculations for Hydrotest Condition-

--> For the longitudinal stress in the vessel is a membrane stress so we can use "0.95 * YS" per Div. 2 or "0.9 * YS" for Div. 1. For other allowables we can also do something.

I will add an item to our to do list for this.

7)MDMT summary- In case of determining Impact testing requirements for Dished end component it has been found that basic MDMT is computed using minimum thickness of DISHED END, rather it shall be Nominal thickness as per ASME CODE. Hence its needed to be corrected.

--> Refer to note (1) at the end of Fig. UCS-66.2, it states that you have to use minimum thickness for formed heads. For the MDMT of the straight flange of the head, where you do not have thinning we use the nominal thickness.
