COADE, Inc. was notified on December 21, 2009 that Stoomwezen has accepted CAESAR II Version 5.20.

If you need the updated "Acceptance Certificate" you can download the necessary file using this link. Unzip the archive and put the revised "apprvd.bin" file in your \system directory. (Remember that \system is no longer below the program directory and instead resides below %allusersprofile%.)

This revised certificate file will be distributed to everyone in the next official build to Version 5.20.

Hello Richard,

I don't understand where the systems file is now located (version 5.20).
In the old caesar versions i did always put my .HED and .FIL files in there but now i can't find it.
Can you please explain what has changed? Because i don't understand that it resides in %allusersprofile%?

Regards,

Benno Gravesteijn

The purpose of "\system" is to hold files that "you" may want to alter (or replace), so you need full access rights to this directory.

Prior to Version 5.10, the "\system" directory is located below the program directory. However, since most people install to "C:\Program Files", this means you end up with this:
"c:\program files\coade\caesar ii 5.xx\system".

Unfortunately this violates the current "Microsoft / Security / IT" thinking. So for Version 5.20 and later, we moved "\system" to the Microsoft recommended location - which (naturally) is different between XP and Vista.

As of Version 5.20, "\system" is located below %allusersprofile%. (allusersprofile is an environment variable. You can find this location by simply typing %allusersprofile% in the Windows Explorer address bar, and hitting [Enter]. Explorer will then show you the location of allusersprofile.)

On XP this will be:
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\COADE, Inc\CAESAR II\5.20"

and on Vista this will be:
C:\Program Data\COADE, Inc\CAESAR II\5.20.

Unfortunately, some XP setups "hide" the "\Application Data" directory. The only way to get to the "\system" directory in this case is to type in the location in the address bar of Windows Explorer (thank you Microsoft)."

This "relocation change" also affects the "\examples" directory as well as the valve/flange library file directories, and the "\backup" directory.
