Background:

In my equipment, a butt welded nozzle is attached with the shell & a coupling (threaded cap of ASME B16.11) is attached to it.

My questions are:

a)Does PV-elite analyzes it through nozzle module?
b)If ans of ques (a) is yes, then how to do it in software?
c)If ans of ques (b) is also yes, then does PV-elite uses UG-31 & UG-44 as it requires to input some variables such as no. of threads.

Please through some light on it.

PV Elite analyses the nozzle in accordance with the sketches in Figure UW-16.1 of ASME VIII, Division 1 (I assume you are using that code). You basically have to arrange you nozzle somehow to represent the threaded cap. That is the best answer I can give.

Good to see your reply. Please explain what is the use of "coupling" button in nozzle dialog box.

As & when it is being clicked, it ask for the size & rating of cap.

PVelite help file also is silent in this regard.

This button is just a look-up button to get the dimensions of a standard 3000# or 6000# coupling. That is all it does. It is just an easy way of saving your going to the coupling specification.
