Dear All,

If flange mat is SA-105 lised in table 1-a of asme b-16.5
My query is

1)If nozzle loades are given by customer and if i perform wrc analysis ... still it is a standrad flange or do i need to perform appendix-2 calculation as per div-1..

2)If flange is integral with nozzle (forged single piece) still it can be treat as standard flange. (as no external loades)

Hello dhaval

In the case of a standard B16.5 flange, you do not have to perform an analysis in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 2. Those flanges are exempt from analysis. You will find the details in Table U-3 of the code. The code does not address flange external loads, so you can still use B16.5 flanges without analysis.

You should however perform the analysis for the external loads on the nozzle. WRC 107 is an appropriate method.
