Hello everybody..

Hope all of you doing good out there.. I have a small query regarding the angle of the line while routing a pipeline in a zig zag configuration.

Starting a line from x axis and going along the same route few meters and change the direction of the line to some angle (say 87 degree) keep going and again change it to some other angle (say 25 degrees), is caesar taking the angle of the new line with respect to the preceding line or from the original point that is from x axis ( cause i started the line from x axis).

I find this confussing cause when we route the line in aligment sheets the angle of the new segment what we give is with respect to the preceding line.

I still have few more querries regarding the subject in the forces acting on the restraints. Will get back to it in detail when i get a solution for the above query.

Awaiting for your valuable suggestions

Sam

Morning,

Caesar will account for whatever input you put in. I suggest you draw an iso, or just write it out on paper/CAD in the X-Z plane. It will only take a second - or if it takes longer you could probably use the practice.

CAESAR II always considers the "delta dimensions" that you enter to be relative to the global coordinate system.

Hi Perseus..

I would agree to you if the length of the line was small... here we are talking about something not less than 100 kms.... they are no iso prepared for the route, we only prepare the allignment sheets and the route maps...Since its off plot lines and doesnt be to the x or z axis.. the lines will always be skewd.

My question is very simple does caesar take the angle of the new segment with respect to the preceding line or from the 1st line.

All lines will be relative to the global co-ordinate system (x, y, z) as Richard says. The origin can be placed where you like but defaults to the first node.

The cosine can be used to define vectors with an overall length if that helps.

The length i.e. 100km is only a number entered - the magnitude doesn't change the way you model it.

Yes, DX, DY, DZ are global not local.
If you wish to use a local angle, duplicate the current pipe and then "rotate" the new pipe.
