Dear All,
I have seen a few underground pipe analyses for pre-insulated buried network done by different contractors, but the models have been completely similar to a bare UG CS pipe directly in touch with the soil.
The models are all about chilled water (4 to 15 deg C/39 to 59 deg F) distribution networks (API 5L GR-B) with PU insulation (48 kg/m3 density and compressive strength of 240kPa/35psi) and HDPE jacketing (~950 kg/m3 density to ASTM D792).
I found the following discussion that had just a touch on this subject;
(link) I doubt if such models represent the actual network and consequently the results are realistic enough.
I appreciate your feedback/thoughts on the subject and if anyone can share her/his experience or address reference materials for modeling of similar piping.
Cheers,
Kamran
