Anyone have any experience with 12+ inches of -Y travel and getting CAESAR II to size a Constant out of any Spring Table with that displacement?

I am stuck having to come up with another way to size these springs.

Anvil makes these constants that accommodate the travel.

here's my result....

NO. FIG. VERTICAL HOT INSTALLED INSTALLED SPRING HORIZONTAL
NODE REQD NO. SIZE MOVEMENT LOAD LOAD LOAD RATE MOVEMENT

-------+---+-----+----+---(in.)--+--(lb.)-+--(lb.)---+--(lb.)--(lb./in.)--(in.)-
85 1 -2064.640 16184. ****** CONSTANT EFFORT SUPPORT *****
** CONSTANT EFFORT SPRING SELECTED, DESIGN VERTICAL
DISPLACEMENT AT THE SUPPORT EXCEEDED ALL WORKING
DISPLACEMENT RANGES IN THE SPRING TABLE.
-------+---+-----+----+----------+--------+----------+---------+-------+--------

We have often had to deal with vertical displacements of more that 12" (sometimes up to 22") but we do not buy off the shelf constant weights. For these large movements the commercial ones tend to be very large and often do not fit in with the piing design, if you can find one that will handle the range required.

We design our own constant weights for these situation. One design we often use is a sew-saw type support. You can use this design to support above or below your pipe depending on available space. Or if you are in an envirnment where you can get away with a very basic design we have seen ones with a 40 gallon drum full of concrete attached to hte pipe via some pulleys and cables, you can alter the concrete weight to get your required weight.

CAESAR II does selects variable hangers (springs) from catalogs not constants. That's quite a large vertical deflection to handle - -2064 inches! I would figure out how that number got into your report before calling for a quotation on that constant.
