Hi,

I working with a column and the thickness is governed by the combined loading due to seismic at zone D. Our client requires us to use shock absorbers on the bottom part shell to reduce the tensile and compressive stresses on the bottom shells and skirt. Now, I made an excel calculation utilizing all the seimic weights and heights results from the PV elite calculation and calculated the seismic shear and moments on each column part. My purpose of doing it is to manually deduct the force applied by the shock absorber at a certain elevation so I can reduce the moments on the parts below the absorber. my question is:

1. What is the formula in calculating the seismic moment at the top of the column.(No eccentric weights present. just the head). All my shear calculation is consistent with the PV elite results except for the moment at the topmost part of the column.

thank you very much,
