Shell Thickness =18 mm with 10 mm CA
Wear Plate Width =300 mm.
Wear Plate Thickness =16 mm.

Please refer follwing note and calculation from PVelite output.
As per Note thickness (TEM9) should be only shell thickness.But it will take 24 mm( (18-10)+16). Also the width of wear plate is taken.

Please Clearify why it is happening.

Saddle-Tangent Distance A (70.00 ) is > R/2 (50.50 cm )

Wear Pad Extension (26.180 ) is less than R/10 (101.000 mm )
Circumferential Compression at Bottom of Shell:
= (Q*( K.9/( TEM9 * WPDWTH ) ) )
= ( 31365 *( 0.6366 /( 24.0000 * 300.000 ) ) )
= -277.33 kgf/cm²

Also with above query I have one more queryfor the following case


Shell Thickness =18 mm with 10 mm CA
Wear Plate Width =No Wear plate
Shell Inside Diameter=2000mm


Circumferential Compression at Bottom of Shell:
= (Q*( K.9/( TEM9*( B+1.56 * sqrt( R * TEM9 ))))
= (25227 *(0.7603 /(3.0000 *(230.00 +1.56*Sqrt(1020.00 *8.0000 ))))
= -2018.60 kgf/cm²



As per my understanding the value of R shall be 1010(Radius+Corrosion Allowance) but in pvelite it is taking 1020 i.e. radius plus 2* CA.


Please clarify both the Quries as soon as possible.

"R" shall be mean radius and its value shall be 1014 mm. I can not say more without going in detail in your model. I think you are using zick analysis for saddle analysis. If you dont have any problem then you may attach you file here so any one can see and reply in proper way.
