Richard,

I have got an issue which, I think, should be addressed in Caesar II.

First I will have to explain something about the stresses according stoomwezen. The design stress chosen is the minimum of the following formula's:
0.67 Re (өm)
0.44 Rm
Rrg (1%,100.000h;өm)
0.67 Rmg (100.000h;өm)
0.83 Rm min (100.000h;өm)

Back to CaesarII:
We have to put in the allowable stress values for stoomwezen calculations because these aren't included in Caesar II. That's fine with me but... The procedure in Caesar II is as follows: input all the allowable stress values for Re (өm), Rm, Rrg (1%,100.000h;өm), Rmg (100.000h;өm) and Rm,min (100.000h;өm) and Caesar II calculates, with the formulas above, the minimum design stress.

One tiny problem: Stoomwezen has so called M-tables in which the stress allowable values are mentioned but you will never find all the allowable stress values for one material, normally you have got two and if you are lucky, you will have three allowable stress values to use for the design stress determination.

(most times you will have the values for Rm, Re (өm) and Rmg (100.000h;өm) available)

However, Caesar II won't calculate the design stress if you haven't filled in all values...! Therefore we have to pull CaesarII's leg and calculate the design stress ourselves and then put in in Caesar II all the allowable stress values in such a way that these values all give the same minimum value (which is the design stress we calculated...).

You will understand that this is in the year 2005 not a great way to work. We have solved the millennium bug, now it's time for this one! :-)

I would appreciate it if Caesar II was adjusted so that it lets us put in the values which we have and then do its thing instead letting us pull CaesarII's leg every time.

Regards,

Timo Stek

Without specifying Rrg, how would you compute "fe" as per Section 5.1?
