Hi,

Can WRC 107 / WRC 297 Analysis be used to perform Stress Analysis on nozzles that are located off-centred on the hill side.
In PV Elite and Code Calc the representation of the nozzle forces and moments is independent of its location i.e whether radial or off-center.
I know there are other softwares like NozzlePRO and FEA 107 to perform these analysis. I am keen to know whether the analysis can be performed in PV-Elite or Code Calc, by say multiplying some factor to the nozzle loads.

Also in one vessel, I am having a lateral nozzle which is located on a conical bottom head. How do I carry out nozzle loadings for the same?

regards

Maroof

Nozzle Pro and similar FEA software would be the best way to do analysis of said case for local loads.

If client/approval authority is not commenting then you can desing in PV Elite as you know same does not consider its position whether it is radial or offset while carrying WRCB-107 analysis. Generally we mostly do in the same way. If client has queries/objection then you can perform the same analysis in PV Elite for two different axes i.e major and minor axes and submit the same to client and try to convince them. If he still has objection then you must do FEA.

To the best of my knowledge, WRCB-107 and WRCB-297 is not applicable to conical part. You must go for FEA.

Thanks.

Thanks Mukesh,

I hope this option shall be available in future PV-Elite updates so as to ease the end users hunt to go to other softwares for only a small part of the calculation which are sometimes secondary.
