Hi to all,

I need help in calculating restraint summary for explosion loads.
Client said me to inculde explosion pressure of 0.07 bar(g). How can I inculde this pressure as explosion load and how can I prepare the load cases for it?

With Regards
Adi Singh

Most people evaluating this sort of event apply the pressure as a "wind" load. You would setup load cases just as any other occasional event - unless your project specification calls for something else.

Thanks Richard

You mean to say, I need to use the Explosion load as wind loads in all the directions? In this regard, how should I prepare the Load case. For wind load, we need to give only the wind shape factors and the directions (X & Z for wind). But there is no tab of inputing the pressure. Then Sould I have to give uniform loads in terms of N/cm. We have a input pressure of 0.07 bar, so, can I convert it into uniform load in terms of N/cm and apply it uniformly on the whole piping system. (for seismic, we use same uniform load as g factors). Please suggest and modify me if I am wrong.

With Regards
Aditya

When you define the wind parameters, on the same dialog as the directions, you can switch from "ASCE 7" to "User Defined Pressure vs Elevation" table. Then you can input your table.

You wouldn't need to use the "uniform loads" if you do it this way. CAESAR II doesn't know what type of pressure you have or where it came from.
