Morning everyone,

I was told by our Caesar veteran that the ambient temperature is the zero strain temperature or the installation temperature. And now my boss questions this. Can anybody here provide your opinion please?

thanks in advance

Your "veteran" is correct. You can prove this yourself, just setup a job where T1 is the ambient value, and run a typical EXP load case (on a cantilever) and see how much it grows.
