When I put in zero celsius temperature in the field a zero value for expansion coefficient appears in the left down corner.

But this is not correct because at zero Celsius the expansion coefficient is different from zero and it is -0.00023 mm/mm and alpha is 10.9300e-6 mm/mm/°C

The installation temperature is 21.1142 Celsius.

After running error checker a Warning advises me Caesar II will replace zero Celsius with AMBIENT temperature. Why?

Instead if I put in 0.1 Celsius no error is displayed. Can you explain to me where is the problem?

In the attached file you can find the error snaphot

Thanks

Regards

Hi Francesco
I do not know the exact reason of error.
We used to out -1 deg C instead to run the system when temperature zero come to picture.
If you put 0.1 may be it will take as expansion co efficient in lieu of temperature.

From the referenced thread above:

Quote:
Avoid using 0.00 as a temperature value. Use something just larger than the "alpha tolerance", otherwise the value you input will be treated as a "strain" (hence them message regarding 0 being ambient).

By default the "alpha tolerance" is 0.05, so any value you enter less than this will be taken as a strain (or the expansion coefficient in units of length/length).

So instead of T1=0.0, use:
a) 0.051, and if this isn't sufficient then
b) In the Configuration Module reduce the "alpha tolerance" value, to say perhaps 0.001 and then define T1 as 0.002.

Read the "Help Text" on the temperature field and the "alpha tolerance" field for additional insight into this.
