Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me about the M-factor which is calculated during the thickness calculation of a torispherical head.

How does it going to affect the strength of the vessel if the value is greater than 1.77.

Below is the note and a warning that I am getting in PVElite because of the above mentioned reason.

I have used ICR=3100mm and IKR=76mm in this calculation.

Warning: M is > 1.77. Check L,r, and the Dimension Basis
carefully. L and r should be on Inside Diameter basis.

Note: r is less than 6% of the head skirt OD.
Please check UG-32(j) and UG-81 for Code compliance.

I did check the UG-32(j) and UG-81 for Code compliance. I wanted to know can we use that values of ICR and IKR for a non coaded tanks. and if we use it, how is it going to effect any factors (like stress, thickness, strain etc).

Thank You Guys,
