You really can't analyze a vacuum in
CAESAR II.
To begin with, pressure doesn't cause displacement in a piping system, unless you have an untied expansion joint, or unless you activate the
Bourdon pressure effects.
Specifying a
negative pressure, simply alters the way the axial stress is computed. The axial stress is then (always) added absolutely to the bending stress to complete the
code equation.
Collapse and/or buckling are not considered or evaulated in
CAESAR II.
