I am experiencing problems with the 3D graphics on Ver 4.50. The piping model generation in the 3D graphics screen becomes slower upon successive viewings. A large block is displayed after entering the 3D graphics screen from the input screen about 6 times. Just before the block occurs the piping triangulates instead of being circular. When the file is freshly opened the generation is almost instantaneous and then begins slows down. I need to close the file and re-open on a frequent basis to continue. What could be wrong ?? Ver 4.40 was fine. eek

I had exactly the same problem with V4.5 on another computer and found that shutting down the program and opening it again was the only way I could get around it. I am now on a different computer, and so far have not had that problem.

This problem is caused by the lack of speed with your graphics card. This is why the model degrades from circular to triangular, to a block. Try the following:

1) Delete the ".XML" file for the job. This will completely reset the graphics state for this job.

2) In the "configuration module", go to the "3D Viewer Settings" tab. On this tab, reduce the "frame rate" setting to 1. You'll have to type this value in, since the spinner only goes down as far as "5".

3) If this doesn't work, see if you can download more recent drivers for your graphics board, from your graphics board vendor.

4) If none of the above options work, upgrade your graphics card.

I updated the graphics driver on my PC and notice a vast improvement. I appreciate the quick response.

A big thankyou.

FYI, below are my computer details. Compared with the HOOPS graphics System Speed Tests table in the Coade Newsletter I am surprised my hardware is limiting the software performance.
Op System Windows 2000
1.7GHz, 512k RAM
graphics board NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS

Performance depends on a number of things, hardware being just one of them. I'm glad the new driver improved things significantly for you.
