Recently, the apex power sector planning body in India, has initiated a technical audit on a group of power generators which are competitively priced & so notionally poor in quality. Due to this development, lender banks have stopped loans & fuel suppliers the supply of fuel. I admire these power generators & wish them to successfully pass this test.

Technical audit of non-sustainability of the rotating machines like steam turbine in the plants may indicate poor piping stress analysis as a prime reason. Here the value of quality assurance & technical audit of a job comes in!

What do our teachers/mentors in this forum say on 'Teacher's Day' we are celebrating in India on this topic of quality in service we render.

regards,

sam

Many of us have continually recommended that pipe stress analysis is best learned under the direct supervision of an experienced professional. Speaking for the group, I am overjoyed to see the Indian government take a position that is substantially in agreement with our stance.

Merely being able to enter data in Caesar II and produce results that provide a Code compliance report showing no unsatisfactory results is as far from being pipe stress analysis as a youth soccer league is from the World Cup Final. It's extremely important that the data entered into the software is a reliable representation of the proposed or actual hardware. This can only be learned by submitting one's work to a supervisor familiar with the requirements, and then taking the review comments and learning from them.
