Hi there,

until now we run CaesarII under Windows NT. The Upgrade to XP should be done till the end of the year. But today i want to start the Stuctural Modeller. Me was told that we have to use the Build c2040528f to get the correct display of the steelwork. In spite of the announced systemrequirements for Caesar 4.5 where the minimum system is Windows95(!) there is only a warning when installing the build that W2000 or WinXP is needet. frown
The installation under WinNT was possible with no warnings error and so on, but it is neither possible for us under WinNT to get the graphical View of the steelwork nor to get all Icons as shown in the documentation in this module.

So i have three questions:
Is it possible to use the complete Ceasar II under NT?
Which disadvantages could i expect against higher Win-Levels.?

Thanks in advance!

Wolfgang

For quite a while now, we have urged users to move to either Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. Here is a link to our "Operating System Compatibility Statement" , which has been on our web site since early 2003 (and regularly updated since then).

The 4.50 "System Requirements", as detailed in the Quick Reference Guide, also suggest that either Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional be used.

At the time of the initial 4.50 release, the software did run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. However, as the tools we use to build the software are updated by their respective vendors, these updates filter into our product. This is what happened to 4.50 in the build of 040311. As of this build, the software no longer runs on 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME.

As far as Windows NT goes, there are some specific problems with this operating system due to some of the newer technologies released by Microsoft. (For example, the "Check for Updates" function just won't work, so if we detect that the OS is NT, we disable this function.)

In answering your dealer's e-mail concerning your graphics problem, I didn't say you had to run c2040528f. I suggested that you install the latest build, which is 040810 - released yesterday. I really don't know if this will solve your problem, I'm guessing. I have no idea why the graphics in one module would work on your machine, while the graphics in another won't. This has not been a problem for any other user that I am aware of.

The other thing I suggested was to visit the web site for your graphics card vendor, and acquire the latest video driver they have to offer. This has solved many such problems in the past.
