How does CAESAR II incorporate the Y value used in the B31.1 hoop stress formulae? (B31.1 104.1.2 (equations 3 and 4))?

For most standard materials we use this value is 0.4 however we have been using 335 P91 for which Y=0.7.

I am interested to know where CAESAR II defines this value as I have realised that in another pipe stressing package we use the Y value is defined in the model setup. Thus when you are using different materials with different Y values in the same pipe stressing model it is not possible to define more than one Y value.

I was wondering if this is also the case in CAESAR II or is the Y value defined with the material selection?

Thanks

The minimum wall thickness check is simply that, a "check". The value computed according to equations 3 and/or 4 has no effect on any other computation performed by CAESAR II.

For Table 104.1.2, if you're using one of the basic generic materials (1 through 17), then CAESAR II knows which row of the table to refer to. If you're using the material database (materials 100 and up), the "type" of material is unknown. In this case, CAESAR II defaults to the "ferric" row of the table.

OK many thanks Richard, exactly what I needed to know.
