Dear all,

I changed the value of sustained SIF multiplier from 1.0 to 0.75 in CAESAR II,but the calculation output file still indicate the SIF no changed,why?

Whenever you reset the program configuration file you must run through the error checker to get the new settings into the analysis. It is not sufficient to change the SIF multiplier and then simply re-run the analysis. Go back to the input processor now and run batch.

Even if you do this, the listed SIF in the sustained load case will still show the same value. We are not changing the SIF, we are instead modifying the SIF multiplier. You should see the difference in the calculated stress (as it relates to the bending term).

This issue has been falling on deaf ears for years. I'm afraid we're stuck with it.

The only indication you get as to the SIF modifier being used is to run the input echo report and check the SETUP FILE PARAMETERS page. the B31.3 SUS CASE SIF FACTOR will print out with this report.
