When the turbine shaft centerline is vertical, how can the CAESAR II NEMA23 program be run to check nozzle loadings? In my case, the inlet steam nozzle face is parallel to the shaft centerline.

It turns out that NEMA SM23 does not address this configuration so CAESAR II can't do it.

Is this to say that NEMA does not see nozzle loading as a problem in this configuration?

Could an API-610 check be used as a "Go-By"?

I have to say honestly, I've never faced problem w/ turbine CL in global vertical axis. So my answer below is my own opinion.

Imagine your turbine shaft in horizontal axis by rotating your turbine so we can use NEMA SM 32 module under Analysis Menu. Then imagine how is the shape of your pipe routing comes to your turbine due to the affect of rotation of turbine. Do analysis in turbine "local coordinate" by taking load manually from pipe stress analysis output not by click "get load from output file". Any comment from others welcomed .

We can't use API 610-Centrifugal Pump since the allowable loads are different.

It's certainly a special case and outside NEMA, so I guess you will have to agree allowables with the manufacturer.
