Dear all,

I am facing a problem regarding guide support.I have a system of large

length about 700m of 12 inch dia,96 deg temp,15 bar pressure.Pipe going

from -X direction to +X direction. Now it has a bend of +19 deg with +x

in X-Z plane. Now i provide guide support with 10mm gap at a distance of

7.5 m from the bend. But when i run the system it gives me a large

displacement like 39.7 mm in the Z direction. If i change the gap to

1mm,output displacement become 30mm,How it happens?

This is hard to advise on without looking at your job. However, it soundes like you have a skewed gap? In this instance, imaging if the pipe stayed centered in the gap, but experienced an axial growth of 1000mm. The component in "Z" would exceed your gap, yet the pipe is still centered.

You can't (directly) compare local and global displacements.

(If I've misunderstood your question, send your job to techsupport@coade.com.)

Dear Ujjwal,
Please specify the temp units.
Also clarify the position(point) where you are getting the 39.7 mm displacement.
Does your pipe have a bend of 19 deg after running 700m?

ASA
