Hi,

As you know, saddle strenth checking is displayed in the report, Horizontal Vessel analysis. The term "Vertical Load on this addle"(for example the left saddle)in it include Q plus Wind or Seismic.

Without Wind, Seismic loads and Hydrotest we use saddle load Q induced by dead weight and its container and shipping weight to simulate shipping saddle in a simplified way.

Summming forces in the vertical direction, it shall be ΣFv = 0 that is Shipping Weight = Qleft+ Qright. But, acturally it doesn't match above formula with values from PV ELITE.

Any comments will be appreciated

Best Regards,

Sorry,

There's a wrong sentence:saddle load Q induced by dead weight and its container, and it should be corrected to : saddle load Q induced by dead weight and its contents.

Any comments will be appreciated

Shanes,

I cannot find the text that you are referring to. Perhaps you could cut and paste the text exactly as it is printed out for our review.

Zick Analysis: Stresses for the Left Saddle

Load Combination Results for Q + Wind or Seismic [Q]:
= Saddle Load + Max( Fwl, Fwt, Fsl, Fst )
= 17143 + Max( 0 , 0 , 0 , 0 )
= 17143.3 Kgf

Summary of Loads on this Saddle Support:
Vertical Load on this Saddle 17143.30 Kgf
Transverse Shear Load on this Saddle 0.00 Kgf
Longitudinal Shear Load on this Saddle 0.00 Kgf

Zick Analysis: Stresses for the Right Saddle

Load Combination Results for Q + Wind or Seismic [Q]:
= Saddle Load + Max( Fwl, Fwt, Fsl, Fst )
= 24925 + Max( 0 , 0 , 0 , 0 )
= 24925.4 Kgf

Summary of Loads on this Saddle Support:
Vertical Load on this Saddle 24925.42 Kgf
Transverse Shear Load on this Saddle 0.00 Kgf
Longitudinal Shear Load on this Saddle 0.00 Kgf

Hi Shanes,

By default, PV Elite uses the corroded weight to compute the weight load on the saddle supports. Also realize that the weight that is acting downward on the saddles should not include the weight of the saddles themselves. So, once these items are accounted for, you should be able to get the numbers to work out.
