I would like to clarify the document of how to model can support with friction in the manual. This is what I did.

1. Model a rigid from run with zero weight(ex. y=-100mm) say(node(100-110)
2. at (node#110) Input restrain X,Z,RX and RZ and hanger. all with the same cnode(ex.1110).
3. from other spreedsheet, input a +y restrain with friction which node at node 1110.

Please guide me, because I realy dont know what is the source of the expansion of my rigid element.

Right now Im seeing my node#100 with +y displacement of .311 and node#110 with +y displacement of .249.. Why does this rigid element expand to 0.062mm.

If there is an expansion it is definitely temperature related. Sometimes you assign temperature to the previous element and keep it for the new element without noticing; sometimes the attached nodes (s) of element might be moving. It is hard to say something without seeing the details in the model.

Otherwise you need to follow the guide called "Modeling Spring Cans with Friction" in the Caesar II Applications Guide Page 4-19.

Ibrahim is correct - if your rigid element is "at temperature", it will expand. If this doesn't represent your "real world" situation, change the temperatures of this rigid back to ambient. (Remember to check the elements following the rigid so that their temperatures are correct also.)

Wasn't CII programmed in such a way that when no weight for a rigid is added the T expansion is not taken into account? Or am I mixed up with something else that was related to this weight/no weight difference?

Rigid elements have always experienced thermal expansion - regardless of whether or not you define a weight.

indeed, I was mixed up with a rigid not getting fluid and insulation weight when no rigid weight is specified.
