I have to model the mitre bend in my system which is very critical because the line contains bellow

And also piping layout people force us to use mitre bend because it is econmical compare to standard bend

i have some idea about closely spaced & widely spaced mitre. frown

How can i calculate effective radius of mitre bend? confused

If I were Richard Ay, I would say something like this:

The first thing to do here is see if the bend is long enough without the miter. Make sure the two connecting straight pipes are long enough to contain the bend.

Next, review the article from Mechanical Engineering News, June 2000, page 16, titled "Modeling Widely Spaced and Closely Spaced Miter Bends in CAESAR II". If you don't have a hard copy of this newsletter, you can find a copy on this web site at: http://www.coade.com/newsletters/menlist.htm .

Sorry Rich, I could not make the "copy thread address" thingy work.

John,

Thanks for the (above) advice.

The "copy thread address" is best used when:

a) you use the [Reply] option to the post, instead of the "Quick Reply Box" at the bottom. This is a more powerful dialog with editing tools, including "Post a Link".

b) I find the best way to get the link (to paste) is to open the topic using the "Right Click \ Open in another window" option. This way the link address you want is in the "Explorer Address Bar".
