Whenever I generate report in Word and then try to switch back to Input, CAESAR II hangs.
Help please.

Be sure to close Word before you leave the output processor. CAESAR II is the "parent" and Word is the "child", you should close the child first.

No, closing the child application before closing the output processor does not solve the problem.

What Version and Build of CAESAR II are you running? What Version of Word are you running?

I am using CAESAR version 5.10 Build 070917 and MS Word is 2003 SP1.

The first thing you should do is upgrade your CAESAR II installation, to the 080207 build. You can find it here on this website, in the CAESAR II Download area.
