Dear all,

I'm having a problem using 2008, for some reason my PVElite 2008 couldnt be openned. When i double click on PVElite 2008 icon, nothing appear, not even error message. In the Task Manager, the pve.exe just appear then disappear immediately. But i can open CodeCalc 2008. I'm not sure if PVElite 2008 has conflict with other older version, because i'm having PVE 2006 and 2007 in my machine. One of my colleague also have the same problem, and his machine have only PVE2007.
Could someone please help me on this? Help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, but i have already uninstalled and reinstalled many times. We have installed McAfee virus scan, so virus would not be a problem, once i suspected the virus scan was the one that make PVE2008 not working, but since it's standard in our company, when i installed in my other colleague's PC, it's running (with PVE2007 installed before as well). I really dont know what might be the reason...

You have to make sure that the user account has read and write access to the System sub-directory under PV Elite installation folder.

If you are using Vista and install the program in the default folder "C:\Program Files\COADE\PV Elite 2008", then Vista has some mechanism that won't let the PV Elite program modify the files in system folder. The program stores some user customization in the system sub-directory. So, on Vista, it is better to install PV Elite on the root directory and not in the Program Files folder.

Thanks Mandeep,
Firstly we're using Windows XP Pro, so Vista is not a problem here.
Secondly, i did a normal installation (user with admin right) for both PVE2007 and PVE2008, so i suppose, both of the directories will have same settings (inclucing read and write access). But only PVE 2007 can be opened.
Thirdly, CodeCalc 2008 in the same directory with PVE2008, and CodeCalc can be opened, but not PVE2008.
Is there any other reason that you have in mind for this problem?
Anyway, thank you both for taking your time replying for my problem.

Dear Khoa,

When you actually run the program do you have the read and write permissions? You may have installed with admin privileges and then logged out and the user logs in with their log in.

Also right click and check the permissions on the system sub-folder.

send us a screen shot of the error message if it still occurs, send it to support - at- coade.com and put it to my attention.

Dear Mandeep,

All the users that are using the PVE have full control permission, as their accounts are administrator account. We also set full control for all users for the PVElite 2008 folder. But the weird thing here is there's not even an error message. When i double click on the PVElite 2008 icon, nothing appears, and as i said, in task manager Processes, pve.exe appear then disappear right after that. That is why i'm not sure what's happening to our computers.
Btw could it be because of some dll has not been registered yet so it cause the program not working properly?
Again, thanks Mandeep for your time.

Dear Khoa,

Try these,

1. Disable any anti-virus and anti-spam program and then try again.

2. So, the program is installed on the client's computer, on their hard drive?

3. Go to PV Elite FAQ on the site, here is the direct link,

http://www.coade.com/product_faq.asp?varflag=PVElite#prg

then follow the items suggested in the Program Errors and Graphics section.
