Hi

I searched coade forums to find some material about "spring hanger sizing " , but I did not succeed.

Would someone tell me how can I size spring hangers and what is the procedure.
It would be great if I could study a book or some stuff about it.

thanks in advance

You could allow Caesar II to do the spring sizing for you ?

To do it manually, first determine the travel and load. Then select a spring from a vendor catalogue which fits your load and travel requirements without exceeding any load variation limits.

Most vendor catalogues contain instructions and advice. Or you could search Amazon for titles by Grinnell or Tube Turns, and the venerable Kellogg 'Design of Piping Systems'.

The CAESAR II hanger sizing algotithm is described in the Applications Guide.

In addition to the other references cited above, I might suggest the Anvil International catalog - the pdf of which is available on-line. Do a little Googling.

thanks for your help

may seem easy, but:
-where shall we use spring hanger?in which locations I mean.
-where shall we use constant effort or variable type of hangers?

I don't think this forum is the place for questions such as you have put.

Find a qualified and experienced piping engineer of stress engineer, ask for help. You need it.

There's a lot of catalog. Just search it in your search engine.
Try to read them and you can find the answer there.

Try to look in some vendor catalog or study Machine Design.

Piper,

I suggested that you ask for help because you clearly need it. Any experienced 'piper', either designer or engineer knows exactly what a support spring support is, its purpose and how it functions. A stress engineer knows how to size the spring and define the type.

If you are indeed a new user of Caesar II, your evident lack of knowledge suggests you need in-depth training at the least. I don't mean to be hurtful, but let loose with complex software the like of Caesar II, you may be on the road to a fatal accident enquiry.

" IF YOU WANTED NOT TO HELP ME , YOU NEED NOT POSTING ANY REPLY"

Writing in all capitals is honestly not encouraging to read at all in the first place.

And very importantly you didnt ask for help, IMHO you asked for spoonfeeding. And what MoverZ has did is to provide you with constructive criticism. And this if you take in positive manner would promote/develope you to do your own homework/ encourage you to ask for guidance in-house where you work.

Did you even bother to read the anvil catalogue posted by siv? It does explain why you should use constant and variables.

And in the end with due respect I urge you to THINK what exactly you need, (HELP mould the attitude)? Do you really deserve to be helped the way you are being so chesty?

No offence intended!!
Good Luck.

Dear Sid,
I do apologize if I have been a bit rude, but the truth is that I did not really want to do so.
thank you

I just wished all the replies are like Dave Diehl's and Siv's.
I don't think it is in anyone's interest to scare people into not asking questions. Concise answers such as the ones mentioned are in everyone's interest.
My hat off to you gentlemen!

Reading the past post here (about those reactions) makes me read before ask and along the way I learn more than what I am looking for and things that open up my thoughs that I never knew.

Questions that are basic, that an F1 could solve and a bit of reading is highly promoted here. Spoon feeding in school days never work in the field of practice.

"Again this are my opinions"

Regards!
